What are the benefits to agency nursing and why do you choose SwingShift?

They offer flexibility which is suitable for my family, I’m learning a range of skills and experience as I’m working in different hospitals and different wards. SwingShift Nurses often provide readily available shifts when I want to pick up a shift and they respond quickly. Great supportive staff/team and payment is great.

What made you want to specialise in mental health nursing?

Working in mental health provides an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives. There is a growing recognition of the importance of mental health and an increased demand for mental health professionals. The mental health field offers diverse career paths and opportunities for professional growth. I like to challenge the stigma associated with mental health and like to promote awareness and understanding.

What’s the most rewarding part of your job?

Providing care, helping clients overcome challenges, contributing to meaningful and improving people’s wellbeing, the sense of impact can be deeply gratifying. The opportunity to learn new skills, professional development and building relationships with a team also provides fulfillment and belonging.

What advice would you give an aspiring mental health nurse?

Stay informed and engage in continuous learning. Build a support network. Embrace cultural sensitivity.
