Skills and qualifications
- Minimum of 12 months psychiatric experience
- Experience in both general and emergency
- Experience with patients who have drug and/or alcohol related problems
- Recent experience in mental health nursing
- Post graduate in Mental Health related studies preferred
- Ability to adapt to a variety of work practises
- Exceptional patient care
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Minimum 12 months’ nursing experience
- Current Registration with AHPRA Working Rights in Australia
Duties include:
- Administering medication
- Ability to carry out mental health assessments
- Providing health education
- Providing counselling and rehabilitation programs
- Assessing and managing clinical risk
- Responding to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner
- Applying de-escalation techniques
- Working with patients’ carers
